Trojans Split With Azalea In Volleyball Season Opener

The defending South Division champion JHMS girls' volleyball team, behind the hustle and effort of Malia Gibson, Heidi Roosa and Kathryn Girdler, defeated Azalea two sets to none Wednesday, Sept. 17 in the season opener for both schools.

"They seem poised to pick up where they left off last year,'' said Lady Trojans coach Mr. Glessner.

The boys' match came down to the critical third set before Azalea sealed the victory. Nick Lynch and Gabe Tram led the Trojans.

JHMS has been without a regulation volleyball net since the beginning of school, which forced the cancellation of the season-opener Sept. 15 against Bay Point.

Both teams head to Tyrone on Monday (9/22) for their next game.
